This is a lovely book! Our younger son was born with OI, although a milder type than Conner. By reading this book, you learn how a child with special needs affects the entire family, even the extended members. Parents of these special children immediately realize, as Denise writes, that you have to be their advocate, and sometimes you know better than the medical professionals what is best, and you have to stand your ground. I admire Denise for her perseverance in meeting all of Conner's needs. I don't know how she did it, having four other children, especially an infant, Conner's twin. The chapter on The Accident was heartbreakingly difficult to read. This book will help educate people, including those in the medical community, about OI, which is a rare bone disorder, little known except to those directly affected.Conner and his family have a challenging life ahead of them.

Perfectly Imperfecta Conner Story Living With Brittle Bones Denise Goldhammer 9780692478844 Books Reviews
I loved the book!!! Very well written. Denise is an amazing mom and advocate for her son!
Wonderful story about an amazing boy with OI written by his equally amazing mom.
Denise's book is a well written chronicle of her journey with her son Conner who has O.I. (Brittle Bone) disease.
Having a grandchild just born with OI (type 1) I was very anxious to see how the Goldhammers have dealt with it. Although our case is not nearly as serious I learned some things to watch our for as our grandchild grows. Very well-written book from the heart.
A page turner as you walk alongside this family as they learn that their child will have Brittle Bone Disease and how their family adapts and lives with this revelation. Ultimately a story of hope, determination and resilience as they do whatever it takes to thrive in a difficult situation.
Perhaps I'm the only one who feels a bit uneasy around special needs people, but this book helped me understand a bit of their struggle, and hopefully will help me be a bit more knowledgeable in my interactions in the future. Well written, highly recommended.
